BRICK TOWNSHIP – The Best Day Foundation held its annual event at Brick Beach III for the tenth time as part of a two-day water sports experience for children and young adults with special needs.
A total of 150 volunteers on July 9 and 10 helped throughout the weekend to assist the 47 participants who attended the nonprofit event.
Each day began with an opening circle, welcoming all who came. Volunteers such as Recreation Director, Dan Santenillo, Motivational Speaker, Scott Chenzy, and The Brick’s Assistant Lifeguard Leader, Robert Brown could be seen working hard to ensure that the full experience of the foundation was obtained.
From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., a team of water volunteers picked up participants, ages 4 to 28, from their designated beach buddies and guided them through bodyboarding and group surfing. “It’s about bringing back the experiences you’ve had in the same waters,” said water volunteer and surfer Ashley Harvey.
