A Thurso surf school has been shortlisted for an award celebrating the UK’s best independent businesses.
North Coast Watersports celebrates after being nominated as a finalist for the Journal Magazine Awards.
The company, formed in April 2019 by Iona McLachlan and Finn MacDonald with the goal of sharing their love for surfing and the North Coast, was shortlisted in the Great Outdoors category.
The judgment was made by Alison Edgar, who is considered the ‘entrepreneur godmother’ for many of the world’s most successful business leaders, and Scottish TV presenter Zara Janjua, who selected the company. among the best in its category among more than 600 nominations.
Among the reasons for their choice, the judges said: “The popular NC500 tour of the north of Scotland is likely to become even more popular with attractions like this. Professional surf and SUP lessons in a picturesque setting. “
Iona, who grew up on the North Coast and is the current Scottish Women’s Champion, said: “We love to share our passion for the sea and the North Coast with everyone who visits us.
